For years, when the Ministry of Health in Ghana had mosquito nets to give students to prevent malaria, teachers had to cancel classes, pick up the nets and bring them back to the schools. In 2019, a new delivery strategy working with private sector transport companies helped keep teachers in schools and improved the efficiency and accountability of the malaria supply chain in Ghana.
Thanks to funding from the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), the USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program-Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) project worked with the Ministry of Health and National Malaria Control Program to contract with private local transport companies to deliver long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (LLINs) all the way to children in the furthest schools.
